About ApricotKing

Since 1946, the Gonzales family has grown the rare and fabulous California Blenheim apricots. Grown on our Hollister ranch, we continue to be the farmer, pruner, dryer, packer, and seller of the vanishing Blenheim apricot. We produce the best tasting apricots in the world all "Home Grown in the Flavor Zone"!

In addition to our incredible dried apricots, be sure to discover our variety of nuts (walnuts, pistachios, almonds) and other dried fruits (peaches, pears, prunes, and more). For those who believe less is more, we have dark and delicious unsulfured dried apricots. And don't forget our sweet and tart selection of apricot jams and syrups as well as our decadent chocolate covered fruits and nuts.  Simply delicious! Everything here on the ranch is organically grown.

Enjoy!

SlipPits (Gourmet 14 oz)

2023 Crop

Not every apricot can grow up to be a SLIPPIT.

You must  be extra-large, plump, flawless, and ripe.

We save the best Blenheims of the day for slippits............the Cadillac of our Line.

These luscious slippits are dried whole in the sun.

After 3-4 days, the pit is gently slipped out.

That little bit of extra roasted-in-pit time, gives the slippies an extra pizzaz and unique flavor.

 These are show-piece - large.

We run short of these every year......

  1. Slip these into your order!

Posted by Erica Mueller on Sep 7th 2023

Slippit Blenheims are pricey but worth it. Despite horrible summer weather, this year's apricots are moist and quite large.

The only way they could be better is if the pits were not removed. Leaving them in during drying imparts a hint of amaretto or almond extract flavor.

  2. Excellent

I grew up in Palo Alto and every summer we would go to an orchard an cut and Dry Blenheim and then eat them for the rest of the year. The super ripe were the Slippits.I wasn’t aware of the name then. Great childhood memoriesThank you Apricot King/Queen

Moist and fleshy, bursting with flavor. Not much else to say, you will not be disappointed. Hurry and order this year’s crop before they’re gone.

The SlipPits are great, very beautiful, too. Have to restrain urge to gobble up huge amounts all at once.
Also really like Extra Fancy. Intense apricot flavor in both.

  10. Slip-pit Blenheims are the best.

Posted by John Butler on Feb 19th 2023

I've ordered form ApricotKing a few times over the past half-dozen years. Order is filled quickly and arrives VERY fast. And ALL the items I've ordered over time have been outstanding.

Most recently I've ordered some of their SlipPit Blenheim apricots. Wow! You haven't ever had a dried apricot until you've had a whole/slippit Apricot. Sweet - but with a terrific tart finish (I kid you not - the language of wine comes handy for these humble dried fruits). Great chew - but soft. Conventional dried apricots aren't even in the same general area when it comes to these Kings of the orchard. They're a splurge, but super worth it!
